She had starring roles in several more popular 1940s movies, including Sullivan's Travels, This Gun for Hire, I Married a Witch, The Glass Key, and So Proudly We Hail!.

Date/Death/Cause: Veronica Lake died on July 7, 1973 at age 50 from complications of her alcoholism hepatitis and acute renal failure in Colchester or Burlington, Vermont, after a two week stay at the (Fanny Allen Hospital or Fletcher Allen Hospital); her ashes were scattered off of the Virgin Islands as she had requested.

Short Biography: During the 1940's Veronica Lake captivated Hollywood audiences like few other actresses. She was a popular pinup queen during WWII and won fame co-starring as femme fatales roles in several film noir movies with Alan Ladd. Her claim to fame came with her celebrated "peek a boo" hairstyle, which many women in the early 1940's emulated. Her success did not last.
