Although she had been an entertainer for quite some time and already been making movies for five years when the U.S. entered World War Two Joan Leslie was only 16 in 1941, a beautiful hot vibrant teenager who was a great comfort to our younger U.S. troops when they meet her at the Hollywood Canteen. Although she was really to young be touring the overseas U.S. bases like some entertainers she spent a lot of time at the Hollywood Canteen, danced with servicemen and signed a lot of pin up photos and many service boys went out to war carrying autographed studio publicity pictures of Joan Leslie and sweet thoughts of her in their dreams I feel sure. In 1944, she played herself and starred with Robert Hutton in the fun & entertaining vintage star filled Warner Bros. film, Hollywood Canteen.
