Notable Works: Rosalind Russell best remembered for her role as a fast-talking newspaper reporter in the screwball comedy His Girl Friday, as well as her role of Mame Dennis in the film and stage plays Auntie Mame; for Wonderful Town (1953) she was given the Tony Award for Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical and over her lifetime she received 5 Golden Globe awards and earned four Academy Award nominations for Best Actress: in 1942 for My Sister Eileen; in 1946 for Sister Kenny; in 1947 for Mourning Becomes Electra; and in 1958 for the movie version of Auntie Mame. She received a Tony Award for her performance in the stage play Wonderful Town in 1953. In 1976 she was given the Screen Actors Guild Award for Lifetime Achievement.

Date/Death/Cause: Rosalind Russell died after a long battle with breast cancer in 1976 at the age of 69, although initially her age was misreported because she had shaved a few years off her true age. Her husband, son, and her son's wife actress Patricia Morrow, and a priest were at her bedside when she died. She is buried in Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Culver City, California, in the center of section M at the statue and cross.
