What was the Women's Land Army and U.S. Crop Corps?
During WWII years 1941-1945 the majority of able United States men and boys of age went overseas to fight the war and many able women went to work in the war materials industry on the home front or other war support activities this left American agriculture with a major labor shortage, especially at harvest time. To help deal with this problem Congress authorized funds for an Emergency Farm Labor Service that included the "U.S. Crop Corps" and a branch organization called the "Women's Land Army" both designed to help get laborers onto the farms and into the orchards and fields to most importantly to help American farmers bring in their crops. U.S. Government campaigned heartily to find the necessary farm labor and pickers to fortify our agriculture industry and bring in the harvests. An important part of this campaign fro agriculture were beautiful farm labor recruitment posters like "Pitch in and Help! Join the Women's Land Army of the U.S. Crop Corps" featured on this page, they were not only effective but many were striking real works of art too; they are American Patriotic public domain images copyright free vintage artworks to download and print to hang on your wall or whatever you choose.

Hubert Morley Poster Artist Biography (Hubert?)
(American 1888-1951)?
I could find out little verifiable information about the talented artist of this war agriculture poster "Pitch in and Help! Join the Women's Land Army of the U.S. Crop Corps " Hubert Morley. I found another beautiful patriotic WWII agriculture poster by this same (signature matches but the signature is only "MORLEY" not "Hubert Morley" so the first name of this artist could be a mistake) artist for the gallery on this website "Pitch in and Help! Join the Women's Land Army of the U.S. Crop Corps"; some etchings and holiday cards signed Hubert Morley have survived and occasionally come up for auction which may be him; an Artist Hubert Morley has works in the collections of at least one museum which may be his, the Smithsonian American Art Museum. An artist Hubert Morley was born in La Crosse , Wisconsin and settled down in Chicago where he attended the Art Institute of Chicago and the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts this may be him. If you have any information on the artist of these posters please contact me.
Artist Hubert Morley Works which may be this same artist at the Smithsonian American Art Museum.
Second World War American patriotic posters like "Pitch in and Help! Join the Women's Land Army of the U.S. Crop Corps" helped unite Americans and mobilize the private and industrial sectors; U.S. citizens of every age, gender, and walk of life did their part to support the war effort, allied military and defeat the axis powers.
U.S. citizens hoped that the Axis powers could be stopped without American military support and hoped America could avoid direct involvement in World War 2 but that all changed the morning of December 7 when Japan blindsided the U.S. military with bombs in the attack of Pearl Harbor Hawaii and other U.S. military outposts. The military might of the United States of America of course responded with a powerful vengeance but leaders knew that troops could not win the war alone. The American citizens rallied for the troops and swift mobilization of American citizenry and industry during World War II was an achievement without precedent in speed, scale, complexity and duration. This achievement can be partially attributed to the federal government's intensive program to marshal the contributions of people of all ages and from all walks of life. Many Americans were willing to give up all luxuries and devote all spare time to the war effort to achieve victory. The posters in this gallery helped motivate and mobilize private citizens to find non-military support jobs and produce huge amounts of war materials. The public domain images of vintage patriotic posters from this collection like "Pitch in and Help! Join the Women's Land Army of the U.S. Crop Corps" featured on this page from the American Citizens Turn Farmers, United States Agriculture Mobilizes, U.S. Farms, Orchards and Vegetable Gardens Increase Production to Support the Troops During World War 2 Vintage Patriotic Poster Gallery of this website allow you to own a copyright free piece of WWII history, a historic patriotic public domain artwork poster that is still motivating today.
