This beautiful poster by Montgomery Earl Melbourne was published by the temporarily U.S. Office of Defense Transportation, this WWII poster and reminded civilians that railroads were needed to move large numbers of American troops, arms and equipment. By 1943 nearly all leisure travel had been banned due to fuel shortages and the push to conserve rubber by not using automobiles.
