Guinness World Record World’s largest chocolate truffle! The largest chocolate truffle weighed 196.3kg (432lb 12oz) and was made by the Halloren Chocolate Museum in Halle (Saale), Germany, on 17 May 2008.

To mark the start of National Chocolate week on Thursday, October 14, 2010 the British made an attempt to topple the German Guinness World Record (196.3kg: 432lb 12oz) for the World’s Largest Chocolate Truffle. The world’s largest ever chocolate brandy truffle (253.9kg: almost 600 pounds!) was made by owner Gianni D'Aniello and chef Chris Long of the Queen’s Head Inn in Bromsgrove, Worcester, UK. Their colossal culinary sweet has been accepted as a new world record by the WORLD RECORDS ACADAMEY (http://www.worldrecordsacademy.org/...) but the new records acceptance by the Guinness World Record Book is yet to be seen.

In celebration of the UK’s National Chocolate Week (Oct. 11-17), Owner of the Queen’s Head Inn, in Bromsgrove, Worcester, Gianni D’Aniello and his head chef Chris Long, have created this monsterous chocolate brandy truffle in an attempt to break the Guiness World Record for world's largest chocolate truffel. It took $2, 569.00 worth of donated ingredients, and has a whopping 433,330 calories and 22,941 grams of fat. It took Gianni and Chris a total of five and a half hours to make and was so heavy it took eight people to lift it (253.9kg: almost 600 pounds!) as seen in the above photo. The truffle was broken up in portions and sold to raise money for the Birmingham Children’s Hospital Heart Appeal.

Seen above with their gargantuan culinary creation head chef Chris Long and Owner of The Queen's Head Inn, in Bromsgrove, Worcester, Gianni D'Aniello and spent five and a half hours over two days making this truffle from a traditional chocolate brandy truffle recipe. All the ingredients were donated; Belgium chocolate, brandy, double cream, and cocoa powder. The truffle was made with a ganache center and dusted in cocoa powder. It was made the traditional way, formulating the ingredients in proportion to a normal size truffle. They have attempted to create the truffle, in accordance with the official Guinness World Record Book guidelines; all work and measurements were witnessed and it was created in the correct proportions and prepared in the same way as a normal size truffle with a ganache centre before being coated in cocoa powder. It is yet to be seen if the Guinness Book World Records will accept it as an official record-breaker. The previous holder of the record the Halloren Chocolate Museum in Halle (Saale), Germany, certified on 17 May 2008. was a comparatively measly 196.3kg, this mammoth challenger is 253.9kg.
